and said "Give some bribes to No. 6'. I said Inspectors who

are not in charge of the place only get $1 a day, and I an

willing to pay $1 a day. At that time Inspector No. 6 was not

in charge of the place in which Wa Lane is situated.

He was in charge of the place between the

Central Market and Nam Pak Hong Street (Bonham Strand).

After that I paid this money to Yeung Fat

for the Inspector up to the 19th.of the 5th.moon (18 June)

I used to pay Yeung Fat once every five days. When the Ins -

pector went home I did not pay money for him. I paid him

again on his return. From the time of his return up to the

18th. of June I paid the money. I cannot remember when he

came back. I remember that it was after the Plague that he

left for England. I paid money for the Inspector for several

months before he went home. I cannot remember for how many

months I paid money for him after his return.

The money was paid for the Inspector so as

avoid his arresting the gambling house.

the year of the Great Plague. It was in the 6th, moon of the

plaque year,

I have not kept any gambling house previous

to the one in Wa Lane.

When Yeung Fat came to me to ask for money

for No. 6 he said that No. 6 hau sent him.
